Job SummaryJob Summary

Manage the activities of a team of overall TX Implementation Engineers / supervisors to coordinate and manage the rollout of transmission infrastructure related to BTS (2G and 3G), Core Network, Interconnection, Hybrid Systems, Hydromax, Fuel Monitoring System, site sharing with other operator, burnt sites restoration etc. throughout Afghanistan as per the SOPs and group guidelines.

Key Tasks:  

  •   Make sure that team has the proper interface with other operators for surveys and installation of transmission equipment. Ensure implementation \installation of new sites is done according to MTN specifications and the equipment &upgrades are done to high standards for optimum network availability to achieve customer’s expectations.
  • Support vendor roll-out (equipment installation) plan across multiple sites in parallel to ensure quality and delivery in time. Ensure equipment/hardware end to end Planning & deployment, support, feasibility, monitoring for phasing out old and introducing new equipment. Plan and strategize to ensure the most effective rollout to achieve targets, with the timeline and budget
  • Interface with sub-contractor after the RFI is done to schedule leased line testing and site acceptance; ensure RFO checklist (for prevention of internal alarms/external alarms) is adhered to before the site is handed over to the sub contractor. Ensure the site is handed over to MS team for maintenance after the audit is done as per the said checklist.
  • Coordinate and balance the implementation demands from internal Network Teams (TX Access, TX Core, TX
  • IP and TX operation departments). Provide liaison function between other operators and TX planning functions. Support the roll out of Transmission Infrastructure by vendors/ contractors Obtain permission for access to operators sites
  • Coordinate the installation of Transmission indoor and outdoor equipment
  • Coordinate the Multiplexer Installations
  • Coordinate Transmission infrastructure to Friendship centers(support interconnect links) and Switch centers and MTN buildings
  • Coordinate the roll out of MTN backbone(microwave link) within the regions
  • Manage interconnect with other operators, corporate clients and GSM service providers within the region
  • Facilitate installation of optical fiber network for major cities and critical sites. Ensure compliance to MTN Afghanistan standards and specifications
  • Manage implementation of non-turnkey TX infrastructure, Cross connect cabling, ADM installations, optical fiber routes, radio links. Present weekly and monthly reports on progress of the regional engineers regarding rollout objectives. Develop reports including Non-Financial for CFO,CTO and Network Senior Management for reporting new cells added to the network, site sharing with other operators, site running stats on Hybrid or Hydromax etc., Present the CAPEX reports to CTO, CEO, CFO mentioning roll outs, equipment installations updates.
  • Facilitate adherence to MTNA’s policy regarding quality of work.
  • Oversee the installation of all required infrastructure in regions is properly done and interconnection Track and report the progress of the rollout
  • Support assistance to NW Operation to clear link failure
  • Add Hybrid system, stock inventory, invoices on time TSS without additional work
