Job SummaryJob Summary

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job :

  • Planning and designing the core network (NSS:) and transmission (transport: VSAT, fiber and lease line, Backbone and Tx Nodes and TX IP Modernization and Aggregations, Core Modernization, Layered architecture); Helping in developing a flawless implementation strategy for both.
  • Formulating the business strategy for MTNA based on Group interaction and vendors; Managing the Capex and Opex, budget for the function.
  • Monitor the Capitalization of equipment, and efficiently monitor the Capex utilization of Network Budget.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesDuties & Responsibilities

Key Tasks: 

  • Take reports from direct reports (Manager Core IP and Manager Transmission) twice a week, for budgeting issues, vendor issues, project progress, etc
  • Formulate the yearly budgeting of Core IP and Tx as per the amount allocated by the CTO; Allocate the budget to expected projects over the next fiscal year.
  • Execute the approved budget (Capex and Opex) , ensure that the budget is being spent as per planning, reporting it back to the Group, and justify the capital expenditure in terms of ROI and relevant timelines
  • Oversee execution for each project with the third parties such as Ericsson; Evaluate and solve any issues relating to project operations in case of bottlenecks, performance discrepancies or any other such contingency; Act as a point of contact between third part and top management.
  • Receive designs for projects after they have been overviewed by managers; Analyze the design according to quality standards of MTN Group and consequently approve or disapprove the project design.
  • Review the performance of Managed Services i.e., operation and maintenance of network under Ericsson and evaluate it according to defined contractual goals and targets.
  • Plan and provide ahead of time Tx capacity to fulfill the Rollout requirement of 2G, 3G and Core Nodes
  • Monitor capacity utilization of Interconnection with Operators and international Gateways
  • Facilitate the release of the equipment relevant to Core and Tx from the warehouse/customs for utilization in projects
  • Direct the completion of reports; Capitalization Report and OPEX Variance Sheet.
  • Plan and manage disaster recovery and propose geo-redundancy for MSC-S, MGW, and Core Nodes.
  • Plan to convert the existing TDM (Time Division Multiplex) Transmission towards IP gradually
  • Conduct technical feasibility of new features/services
  • Produce service capability
  • Audit detailed design performed by 3rd party/consultant/vendor
  • Facilitate Internet Bandwidth connectivity for 3G and data subscribers
  • Establish GRX and Roaming signaling and its dimensioning and redundancy
  • Establish and maintain key vendor relationships
  • Evaluate the Existing Tx redundancy and optimize/upgrade them
  • Ensure the preparation of Budget and BOQ’s based on marketing Inputs
  • Follow MTN Group technology strategic objectives and modify Budget based on
  • Monitor the Managed Services Performance in terms of Core capacity KPI’s, Call set up performance, BHCA, all Utilization % of various interfaces.
  • Coordinate with IS division on Packet Core requirements and connectivity/interfaces
  • Provide detailed and Executive reporting to his superior.
  • Attend meetings with Ericsson Managed Services on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
  • Follow up on project implementation and bottle neck
