Job SummaryJob Summary

The mission of this role is to take control of the procurement of the most suitable products / services at the most economical cost, ensure the safe keeping, storage and distribution of assets / goods belonging to MTN, manage facilities and supervise effective travel management to ensure smooth operations, negotiating better deals, maintaining relations with vendors/suppliers, and provision of better services.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesDuties & Responsibilities

Key Tasks:  

  • Provide input in the department budget
  • Assist with the formulation and execution of the supply chain vision
  • Manage the implementation; integration and coordination of financial resources nationwide to achieve substantial savings in procuring materials & services.
  • Implement procedures for procuring materials and services to ensure good corporate governance
  • Support efforts geared towards determining the logistics and service delivery systems improvements / changes that ensure the company maintains its leadership position in the telecommunications industry
  • Review and reengineer logistics processes to ensure alignment with the business operating model in order to achieve more productive, efficient and valuable logistics activities
  • Centralize procurement and administration and decentralize supply to enhance cost savings for the company
  • Monitor procurement policies and procedures as well as ongoing cost reduction strategies and highlight areas of concern
  • Oversee development of a database of preferred suppliers by utilizing sound tender processes to generate a preferred supplier list for all areas of the business
  • Consolidate major purchases to secure the best possible pricing
  • Benchmark costs and quality of current and potential suppliers
  • Negotiate long term contracts to ensure optimum cost and reliable supply
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure reliable sources of supply and information
  • Ensure thorough and complete purchase and inventory records to provide accurate accounting of all purchased goods and services
  • Assess the strategic; financial; accounting; tax or legal impact of procurement activities
  • Report on operational performance
  • Reduce nationwide incidence of high costs and wastage with more efficient procurement and logistic processes
  • Ensure timely payments to vendors
  • Ensure proper records are kept
  • Evaluate the need for changing the supplier/vendor;
  • Oversee the workings of the administration staff and ensure support to all departments within the organization
  • Oversee & ensure smooth functioning of day to day administrative operations in areas such as transportation, fleet management, travel, office buildings’ maintenance, office premises management
  • Determine and ensure maintenance of service levels
  • Provide input and implement updates in procedures and policies within Supply Chain department.
  • Propose measures which can conserve company’s resources.
  • Review operational reports and schedules to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Oversee management of company travel and accommodation operations
  • Monitor compliance with travel policy
  • Build a strong working relationship with travel agencies
  • Oversee all the travel and fleet transactions of the company in a manner that will help achieve its mission and goals and enhance customer service
  • Ensure continuous refueling at MTNA offices and sites in coordination with various suppliers
