Plans to continue to provide excellent mobile services to customers in Afghanistan
14 November 2022
To all our valued customers
MTN Afghanistan, with a dedicated staff of more than 330 people, is honoured to serve six million customers across the country. MTN Group, which is the South African owner of MTN Afghanistan, recently received an offer for the company from M1 New Ventures Limited, a company with its roots in the Middle East.
As MTN Afghanistan, we would like to assure you that the planned change in the company’s ownership will not affect you, our valued customers, in any way. Your SIM cards, active bundles, MoMo balances and all other services will remain valid and safe. Over time, the only change that you will be aware of will be that to a new name.
The change in ownership is part of plans first announced more than two years ago by MTN Group to exit from its operations in the region so that it could focus on its pan-African strategy. Since then, the Group has made an orderly exit from operations in Syria and Yemen.
Under our new owners – whose vision is to develop successful, sustainable businesses while creating stakeholder value – we commit to continuing to provide you with the excellent service to which you are accustomed and to remain an exemplary and responsible corporate citizen.
Yours faithfully,
Abbad Reda
MTN Afghanistan – CEO
