MTN Afghanistan (CSI) Provides Essential Kit-Pack of Food and Cleaning Materials to 500 Families Affected Due to the Covid-19 and the recent water floods

Afghanistan (CSI)provided Essential Kit-Pack consisting of food and cleaning materials as assistance to 500 families Affected by coronavirus and floods in a humanitarian aid effort.

The assistance has been made in coordination with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, with a kit-pack that includes rice, oil, beans, biscuits and Dettol soap were distributed in Kabul.

Mr. Bashir Ahmad Tahyanj, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan thus welcomed the MTN Afghanistan (CSI) for assistance to the families affected due to the lockdown, coronavirus and the recent floods in the country. He added that the assistance is very useful in this important time: “We are grateful to the MTN Afghanistan’s delegation, especially Mr. Hidayatullah Zahid and his teamfor providing such necessary materials at this critical time.

Mr. Omar Mansour Ansari, Chairman of the Afghanistan Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (ATRA), also praised the role of the telecommunications sector and emphasized their active role in social activities.

He thanked MTN Afghanistan for its assistance to needy families and clarified Telecom sector future plans for internet services.

Mr. Hidayatullah Zahid, GM – Corporate Affairs of MTN Afghanistan Telecommunication Company, said at the distribution ceremony that, ” MTN Afghanistan has always taken hand of the needy compatriots due to its humanitarian and corporate social responsibility purposes. This time it is also necessary to provide food and cleaning stuffs to a number of families affected due the lockdown, coronavirus outbreak and recent water floods in the country.”

Mr. Zahid added that “MTN Afghanistan aside telecommunication services provision, is also contributing to the needs of under privilege compatriots in various fields through its charitable activities and is committed to continue assistances in the future as well.”

This is not the first time that MTN Afghanistan’s (CSI)is helping with the destitute families. The MTN Afghanistan (CSI)has already provided assistances to compatriots in various sectors, including providing youth with the free education opportunities and scholarships, assistance to internal displaced and returnees, creation of libraries and computer labs, provision of books and academic materials for schoolchildren, capacity building seminars, the restoration and renovation of classrooms, schools and mosques, helping with the orphanagesconducting blood donation campaigns, provision of food and first aid items as well as sending teams of medical volunteers to the countryside in the event of natural disasters, are some of the salient activities of MTN Afghanistan’s (CSI)has undertaken so far.
