MTN Afghanistan donates well-equipped Library to ASRA Orphanage

MTN Afghanistan via its 21 days of Y’ello Care annual Campaign donates a well-equipped Library to ASRA Orphanage located at Ahmad Shah Baba Mena Kabul city. Such library has plenty of books in different subjects and levels that purchased by MTN Afghanistan from local market and also donated by MTN Employees. In addition to books MTN equipped the subject library with Computer, tables, chairs and MiFi Devices for internet connection in order for the readers to (use eLearning portal for studies), browse and research online and connect with the globe.

This initiative has taken place on the last phase of 21 days of Y’ello Care Campaign thru which MTN conduct computer trainings for school teachers and established well-equipped computer labs for Bibi Mahro, Shahrak Khurasan and Saeed Noor Mohammad Shah Mena girls High Schools), stationary kits and tents to school-classes for Abdul Hai Habibi High School and furniture to Alfath high School located at Kabul City, helping Education faculty of Nangarhar  University with internet training, free internet devices, Hard disks, USBs and learning CDS and established a well-equipped library with new technology E-Learning portal for ASRA orphanage.

Mr. Hidayatullah  Zahid the General Manager Corporate Affairs of MTN Afghanistan in the inauguration ceremony of the program delivered keynote and said: “MTN Afghanistan management recognized the value and the importance of Schools and Education  and their impact on the community development and its prosperity  that is why we choose and prefer the education project and give it the first and top priority,  he added: we promised to support and equip Schools  and other Educational Academies  with all existed and possible materials available  in our hand, he also said, as you know better, purchasing of all required books is really difficult for a school so that is why we chose Electronic library besides the classic liberty for this School,  we hope such library will increase scientific level of both students and teachers and give them  the access for international and standard book researches and study.

Mr. Ghafoor Liwal, Acting Minister of Borders Tribal Affairs and Said: I am truly happy to appear and take part in a program in which solely concentrated on the education and development of Afghan School Children, as you know better the key factor for the strength and empowerment of the community is to invest in children education, as a matter of fact, throughout last decade,   Government of  Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in cooperation with international community made remarkable  progress  in Education system in terms of quality Education, providing shelter for schools, raising Teachers’ capacity and facilitating  School with update and modern text books but we have  to bear in mind that there is still room  for other  welfare organizations and  private sector  to work together  with Afghan Government  in Education Sector. I really appreciate such program initiated by MTN and urging other private sectors to follow MTN and take active step in the developing of our young generation.

Mr. Ibrahim Shinwari, Deputy of Education Ministry said, it as a great honor and please for me to participate in a very noble Program arranged for the helping and assistance with the innocent generation of Country that is School children. Considering the current situation of the Country I do believe that School’s children are the most eligible people than anyone else in the community to receive such help and assistance that are useful for their growth and development.

21 days of Y’ello Care campaign is an annual campaign which is taking place each year by MTN and MTN volunteers in all 21 Countries that MTN has telecom operation in. Thru such campaign, MTN volunteers are helping school by providing free training programs for both teachers and student and providing the beloved students with free lesson materials and stationary and renovation and painting of Mosques and schools in order to provide a reasonable and colorful educational environment for the students. Besides supporting the educational sector during such Campaign, MTN also has a charity organization under the name of MTN foundation that is funded by MTN in all of its 21 operations to support people in every country.  This includes helping with internal displaced and poor people and providing shelter, donating blood to needy patients, donating blanket, cash money and free medication to earthquake-turn people across the Country.

Also, Cultural Advisor of President, Mr. Lal Pacha Azmon and well-known writer of our country Mr. Najib Manali after thanking MTN Afghanistan and Founder of ASRA Orphanage recognized the project an important step for our countrymen.
