MTN Afghanistan successfully launched “Donate Blood & Save Life” blood donation Campaign

The Blood donation campaign was held at MTN Afghanistan main office, Kabul Afghanistan on 22ndApril 2019, the sole aim of the subject campaign was to assist those patients who are indeed in needs of blood transfusion and waiting at every difficult moment of their life for our generous donation that cannot be purchased by money, moreover to promote the culture of assistance and solidarity in the community we live.
Around 140 Staff Members of MTN Afghanistan with various ranks including Chief Executive Officer of the Company Mr. Abbad Reda, took part voluntarily in this campaign in which more than 70K CC of blood donated.
The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Afghanistan, Mr. Abbad Reda on the occasion of the campaign said: “Donating blood is one of the best priceless gift in life we give to our community, and nothing could fulfil its cost and compensate on the planet except the reward that might be granted to us by God almighty only” He also added, apart for this, that we are doing the business in Afghanistan, it is our social responsibility to help and support the public especially the underprivileged and needy people of the community we are operating in, he also appreciated the efforts and vision of MTN Foundation and all staff Members voluntarily donated their blood for the noble cause.
The director of Central Blood Bank of Afghanistan Dr. Enayatullah Hashmi deeply praised such initiative of MTN and said: “Such campaign held by MTN, surely proves that MTN is not only doing their business but hold itself responsible for the saving life of needy and underprivileged people of the community, and I want to ensure you that the blood donated by MTN employees will be utilized for entitled patients that deserved for free.”
The General Manager of Corporate Affairs of MTN Afghanistan Mr. Hidayatullah Zahid said: “Since MTN is always focusing on the highest priorities and categorize the needs of the community, that’s why it kicks off the blood donation initiative as it was most required and vitally important for such patients badly suffering from Thalassemia” He also strongly encouraged other people living in the community having good health to roll up their sleeves and donate such God-Given gift to their needy brothers and sisters that may save their life.
He also added that MTN is always reaching itself to the truly service of Afghan people that grabbed in extremely difficult circumstances, which granting 600 scholarships for eligible and qualified students this year, distributing of blankets for internal displaced families, supporting the returnees with essential food and non-food kits, supporting hospitals across the country with bed sheets, mattresses and pillowcases, establishing capacity building and ICT centers for youth, assisting for the renovation and expansion of the Islamic Education Centers ،distributing stationary and other necessary academic materials to the student of high schools of Kabul, painting and renovation of classes and creating Computer labs for orphans and School Teachers across the Kabul under the 21 days of Y’ello Care Campaign that takes place each year starting from the first day of June and lasts for 21 days in all 21 countries that MTN operates in, are the good and outstanding examples for them.
This was the 2nd Blood Donation Campaign organized by MTN Afghanistan Foundation in last 3 years in collaboration with the Blood Bank of Afghanistan, as previously more than 150 employees of MTN Afghanistan donated around 80K CC blood through such campaign 2016.
